EFA Approved Ouachita Outdoor Immersion Camp hosted by Hearts & Minds Homeschool Co-op at Ouachita Campground!
Hearts & Minds co-op, a Direct Pay Vendor is offering a family-centric Ouachita Outdoor Immersion experience over 3 days — learning about the Ouachita River Valley topography, flora, fauna, wildlife, and indigenous Arkansas history. Designed as both an educational experience for students and a family-bonding immersion into Arkansas ecology and stewardship.
Available with a minimum of 10 students registered.
Upcoming Sessions
Watch for upcoming sessions as we continue to expand, including guided kayaking trips through the Ouachita waterways and exploring the presence of God through the wonders of nature.
Nestled in the heart of the Ouachita Mountains in Oden Arkansas, the 30-acre Ouachita Campground provides the perfect living classroom. Rolling ridges, hardwood forest, pine stands, glades, creeks, and native understory growth create a highly diverse botanical environment from the campground itself to the vast surroundings of the Ouachita National Forest.
Our program creates a space where parents can explore alongside their children—sharing in the awe, wonder, and excitement of discovering the beauty and mysteries of nature together.
Campsite Skills Crash Course
For those families who wish to participate we will be offering a crash course in basic campsite skills. Participants will learn how to properly set up a tent, organize a simple campsite, and practice safe and effective fire-starting techniques.
Outdoor Immersion Classes
Over the course of three days, students will take part in engaging, outdoor classes, where they will explore forest trails, hike to a waterfall, visit a local homestead all while learning about plant species, local ecosystems, and the important relationship between the Ouachita River and the surrounding landscape.
